Telescopes on the pier
Leadership Manhattan Beach has chosen this year’s project: Replacing the telescopes on the Manhattan Beach Pier.
“We chose the telescopes on the pier because we wanted to foster the connection between our community and the wider marine environment around them consistent with the theme of the aquarium at the end of the pier,” said Priscila Udell, who is co-chair of publicity for the group. “The pier is such an iconic centerpiece of our town, and we saw an opportunity to also make it an even more interactive experience.”
The group is holding a fundraiser on Feb. 28 at Brickworks Roasthouse and Grill at 3212A N. Sepulveda Blvd. from 2 to 5 p.m. It will include small bites, drinks, music, raffles and a silent auction. More information will be available at leadershipmb.org.
Art Center
Work from three Manhattan Beach artists will be on display at the Manhattan Beach Art Center, 1560 Manhattan Beach Blvd., through Feb. 25. The artists are Abdul Mazid, Alex Weinstein and Terrill Cascia. Admission is free.

The meetings will take place on Mar. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Mar. 7 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Joslyn Community Center. To RSVP, visit citymb.info.
