Last week, NRG Energy donated $25,000 to the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, in total doubling its previous annual commitment to the city’s public schools through MBEF’s Business Sponsor Program. “This type of donation is an investment in the future of our region, our state and our nation,” said Ahmed Haque, NRG director of asset management. MBEF recently raised a record-breaking $5.1 million in its 2013-2014 Annual Appeal. Raised funds will be granted to MBUSD to keep elementary class sizes small and support key curriculum areas including science, music and English.
