About Town in Manhattan Beach: Week of Jan. 2

ย Tree and holiday light collection

Until Jan. 14, residents may place holiday trees next to their carts on their regular collection date for free pick up and recycling. Trees will only be collected on a resident’s regular collection day. Trees must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.

Trees must be less than 7 feet long or cut into 7-foot sections and the following items must be removed from the tree before placing at the curb: lights, decorations, tinsel, ornaments and metal stands. Flocked trees will be collected but cannot be recycled. The recycled trees will be ground up and used as mulch.

Holiday lights are considered electronic waste and can be collected at the curb on a resident’s regular collection day by scheduling an e-waste pick up through Waste Management. Residents are advised against placing any electronic waste in Waste Management curbside carts. Residents can schedule an e-waste pick up by contacting Waste Management customer service at (310) 830-7100.
