Mayor Pro Tem to chair County Beach Commission

Manhattan Beach Mayor Pro Tem Wayne Powell has been elected as Vice Chair of the Los Angeles County Beach Commission for a one-year term. He will serve as Chair of the Commission beginning next January.

The Los Angeles County Beach Commission, a 20-member body appointed by the Board of Supervisors, reviews Department of Beaches and Harbor policies and advises both the Los Angeles Department of Beaches & Harbors and the Board of Supervisors on the operation, maintenance, development and promotion of County-owned or County-operated beaches from Malibu to Long Beach, as well as Catalina Island.

Powell, who in 2009 was elected to the City Council, is serving his second term as Mayor Pro Tem. He was appointed to the Beach Commission in 2009.
