Derm Dude, Hermosa Beach’s newest retail shop, sells men’s grooming products not commonly found in beauty salons, or pharmacies, such as sunscreen, oils and brightening balms for tattoos.
To address customer concerns that there is anything unmanly about body care products, Derm Dude owner Drew Blotkin introduced Derm Dude spokesperson Layne Ka’ililauokekoa Viernes at the store’s Chamber ribbon cutting Thursday Evening, July 25.

Viernes, is a thickly bearded, heavily tattooed 6-foot-2, 385 pound power Power Slap fighter. Last October he became the first UFC Super Heavyweight Power Slap champion.
“The Crazy Hawaiian,” as he is known in the UFC, grew up in Waianae, Oahu, where he studied Hawaiian martial arts, which is based on bone breaks and pressure points. A seven pound strike to certain power points will send an opponent to the ground, he told guests.
Under UFC rules Power Slap strikes must be delivered with an open hand below the opponent’s eye and above his chin. The opponent being struck can’t flinch, or tuck his chin.
Blotkin said he met Viernes after seeing his slap fights online before the UFC popularized the sport, enabling Viernes to give up his job as a truck driver.
“The Crazy Hawaiian’s “next fight is in October, in Dubai.
