Matthew Kadlick, 52, of Redondo Beach and Athena Granet (Concialdi), 51, of Michigan, and a 26-year resident of Redondo Beach married after many years of dating on Nov. 14 near their new home in Cocoa Beach, Florida. They met 11 years ago at the Bull Pen in Redondo Beach and were good friends before they started dating. The couple was married at the Brevard County Courthouse with just the two of them and the clerk. According to Concialdi, Kadlick was the kind of guy that nobody thought would ever get married and his friends in Redondo Beach will be surprised to hear the news. The couple had previously planned to get married twice, but due to Kadlick’s health problems, each time they had a wedding date set, they had to reschedule. After they married, Kadlick cried and hugged the clerk who married them and told Concialdi, “I now have a legal obligation to stay healthy.” The day was sunny and they were both excited as well as grateful to be able to finally be married.
