Day of Prayer

Today, May 2, is the nationally recognized Day of Prayer. At noon, Redondo Beach will be hosting a public prayer at the Redondo Beach Civic Center.

Hazardous Waste

If you are a Redondo Beach resident, bring your hazardous waste to the Performing Arts Center on Manhattan Beach Boulevard between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.

Examples of acceptable waste include products labeled poison, corrosive, flammable, combustible or irritant (like motor oil, brake fluid, paint, paint thinner, pesticides, and car batters); batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury thermostats, needle syringes, and expired medications. Athens Services will not accept explosives, ammunition, or radioactive materials; household trash; tires; or bulky and large items. The latter – like refrigerators, stoves, dishwashers, sofas, and tables can be scheduled for pickup by calling Athens at (888) 336-6100.

There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip.

Volunteers needed

Cancer Support Community – Redondo Beach is seeking volunteers to help with front desk reception. Shifts are Monday through Friday – morning, afternoon, and short evening. Election Day approaching

Polls open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14. Pay close attention to all mailed election documents, as your polling place may have changed since the general election. May 7 is the last day to request a vote-by-mail ballot.
