41st annual Springfest opens Thursday Springfest Redondo Carnival & Community Festival returns April 25-28 in the parking lot of Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center. Thursday’s opening is Discounted Family Night followed by Friday’s Teen Night. The four-day event features carnival rides, Kids’ Zone, food court, music and entertainment and a beer and wine tent. Springfest has free admission, free parking and free entertainment. Put on by the North Redondo Beach Business Association, festival times are 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday; 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Sunday. 132nd anniversary of city founding Saturday The Redondo Beach Historical Society marks the city’s 132nd birthday Saturday, April 27, with a celebration on the grounds of Heritage Court at 302 Flagler Lane. The historical Morrell House and the Queen Anne Cottage, home to the city’s Historical Museum, will be open for special activities, such as a children’s scavenger hunt and House tours from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with volunteers serving birthday cake and refreshments.
