Top Bay League teams compete in evening track meet — Sea Hawks host Mira Costa

File photo The boys and girls teams from both schools are coming off strong performances at the South Bay Championship held last weekend at West Torrance. Redondo’s girls team won the overall team championship with 116 points, besting Carson (106) and Mira Costa (72). The Sea Hawks were led by sophomore Kayla Ferron, who placed first in the 800 (2:22.33) and the 3,200 (11:33.94). Redondo’s 400 Relay team placed second with a time of 50.30 and Aundrea Yancy secured second-place finishes in the 100 hurdles (16.09) and high jump (5-2). Kayla Patterson finished third in the 400 (61.45) and Ruby Davis placed third in the 100 (12.69) to help the Sea Hawks. Mira Costa distance runner Aryn Foland took top honors in the 1,600 setting a meet record with a mark of 5:07.32.
