Though commonly known as the “Battle of the Guild,” the Meeting of the Guild is the climax of LA Beer Week, a week long celebration of local craft beer. #LABW8 is put on by the Los Angeles Brewers Guild. This year’s meeting was held at Naja’s on the Redondo Beach pier. LABG and Naja’s selected 20 breweries from the San Francisco Brewers Guild to the San Diego Brewers Guild to compete for the coveted “Golden Keg.” Being a hoppy democracy, everyone from craft beer fans to craft beer legends participated in the voting.

No one could recall who or what type of beer won in years past.

Naja’s GM Jay Ousten has been the de facto face of the South Bay Craft beer scene since before memories dissolved into frothy oblivion (or is it the other way around?) Ousten delared that this year’s winner was the Saison Farmhouse styled ale “Stone Kisses from Torrance’s very popular Monkish Brewing Co. Over the past eight years, the LABG has yet to lose on their home court.
