No contender can hold a proper candle to Hermosa Beach’s Comedy and Magic Club, which is not only the premier source of laughter in the South Bay but is widely recognized as the most prestigious comedy club in the world. Since its opening in 1978, the club has hosted the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Ray Romano, Robin Williams and Bill Maher. Sunday evening shows are headlined by Jay Leno, who tests out his new “Tonight Show” jokes with the Comedy and Magic Club audience. A local favorite is the club’s signature event, “10 Comics,” which regularly brings in surprise acts as well as world-famous comics to perform 10 minutes of their best material.
