
Mira Costa and Redondo Union remained unbeaten in the postseason, sweeping their opponents for the second straight time to reach the quarterfinals of the Division 1 CIF Southern Section/Ford Boys Volleyball Championships.
Quarterfinal matches will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday followed by the semifinals on Wednesday and finals at Santiago Canyon College on Saturday, May 18.
Top-seeded Mira Costa continued to roll defeating Harvard Westlake 25-14, 25-22, 25-18. Scott Stephanoff led the Mustang attack with 18 kills; Casey White added 11 kills and six digs; Riley Mallon had eight kills and seven digs while setter Grant Chalmers recorded 41 assists.
Mira Costa (21-2) will travel to face No. 7 St. John Bosco (24-9), a five-set winner over No. 9 Corona del Mar, in the quarterfinals on Saturday.
The winner will face the victor between No. 4 Huntington Beach and No. 5 Dana Hills in the semifinals.
Eighth-seeded Redondo advanced after eliminating No. 10 Westlake 26-24, 25-18, 25-18 at home on Thursday.
Vinny Pizutti had a game-high 22 kills to lead Redondo. Louis Richard added 13 kills, Nehemiah Iosia posted 10 kills, setter Nick Williamson recorded 49 assists Ryan Baker had three blocks.

Redondo (22-11) will now host No. 2 Loyola (28-3) on Saturday. The Sea Hawks opened their season with a 3-1 loss to the Cubs. The winner will take on the San Clemente-Mater Dei winner in the semifinals.
Bay League runner-up Palos Verdes saw its season end on the road. The sixth-seeded Sea Kings fell to Mater Dei 25-18, 26-24, 22-25, 25-18.
In Division 2, all three Pioneer League teams were eliminated with road losses in the second round.
El Segundo (16-4) fell to No. 4 San Marcos 25-20, 25-17, 25-16, North Torrance (16-18) was swept by top-seeded Esperanza 25-16, 25-21, 25-20 and South Torrance (16-12) was defeated by second-seeded Laguna Beach 25-22, 25-16, 25-20.
Division 4 will feature an all-South Bay quarterfinal when second-seeded Bishop Montgomery (21-8) plays at No. 7 Vistamar (23-8) on Saturday.
Bishop Montgomery advanced by sweeping Glenn 25-19, 25-18, 25-12 while Vistamar eliminated No. 10 Templeton 25-16, 25-19, 16-25, 25-10.
