A man died today in Redondo Beach after being pulled from the waters near Sapphire Street this morning.
According to Redondo Beach Fire Division Chief Robert Rappaport, RBFD responded to a call from Los Angeles County Lifeguards at 10:41 a.m.
Upon arrival, responders learned that the victim had been diving by himself, and was brought ashore by other divers and surfers, Rappaport said.
The victim was not breathing and did not have a pulse at the time paramedics arrived. He was transported to Torrance Memorial Medical Center and pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
The victim has not yet been identified.
This was the second drowning in Redondo Beach this week. A man died and three other people were injured late Wednesday after they were swept into the ocean by waves while hanging out on the breakwall in King Harbor.
