The police arrested and charged Christobal Garcia, 21, of San Pedro, with robbery in connection with assaulting another man and taking his wallet in the 100 block of 21st Street at 2:46 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2.

Det. Mick Gaglia said the victim was out walking when a group of people approached, initiated a scuffle and took the man’s wallet by force. Police initially received a call that a burglary had happened, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department helicopter flew over the area with a spotlight.
Police are looking for at least another suspect who fled the scene. Another person “loosely involved” in the assault and robbery claimed he was shot when police arrived but the authorities discovered the injury involved no gunshot when he was transported to a local hospital, Gaglia said. No weapon was found, police said.
