Lady Washington to once again sail into port in Redondo Beach

Photo The tall ship Lady Washington, a replica of one of the first U.S.-flagged ships to explore the west coast of North America, will once again be in Redondo Beach for two weeks starting Nov. 23. The 112-feet-long ship will offer education programs for K-12 students, public sailings and walk-on tours during the time it is in port. The Lady Washington was featured as Captain Hook’s ship, the Jolly Roger, in the television show “Once Upon a Time” in an episode titled “The Crocodile.” The ship has also played roles in several motion pictures including HMS Interceptor in the 2003 Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. It was also featured as the HMS Enterprise in the 1994 Star Trek: Generations. “The ship’s main purpose is to teach,” said Joe Follansbee, communications director for Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, the not-for-profit public development authority that operates the Lady Washington. That’s a big part of what the ship will do while she’s in King Harbor, where she was moored last year with a similar mission.
