Not so secret gift Dear ER: What an amazingly heartwarming (and heart breaking) article (“Mr. Hughes’ Secret Gift,” ER July 4, 2024). Although the writer said he didn't attend the 3rd period service due to embarrassment, it was most likely due to shock, which is understandable for such a young person. This was a beautiful tribute to teacher Ed Hughes, of Begg School, as well as the writer’s friend Brandon. A great message to all the kind teachers out there who make indelible impression
