Running: The 39th running of the Manhattan Beach 10K will take place Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 a.m. Approximately 4,000 runners will take to the city streets on the moderate to slightly difficult course that finishes just south of the Manhattan Beach Pier. Entry fees are $40 (adults) and $35 (youth under 15). Walk-in registration is available at Village Runner, 1840 Sepulveda Blvd., Manhattan Beach. through Sept. 30. No race day registration. Ranked No. 4 in CIF-Southern Section Division 2, Mira Costa’s boys cross country team placed 3rd in the Danner Championships at the Nike Portland XC last weekend. The Mustangs were led by Caleb Llorin (22nd, 15:56.32), Xavier Court (37th, 16:09.04), Michael Yaskowitz (41st, 16:13.64), Cy Chittenden (57th, 16:29.92), Matt Arruda (60th, 16:30.51) and Andrew Costley (89th, 16:59.29). Mira Costa’s girls team is ranked No. 7 in CIF-SS Division 2 and finished 7th in Portland with Melia Chittenden (16th, 18:38.35), Brooke Inouye (28th, 19:22.36), Olivia Hacohen (31st, 19:27.19), Cara Chittenden (54th, 20:00.20), Emily Jones (55th, 20:02.88), Anna Guerrero (56th, 20:07.37) and Sierra Andrade (77th, 21:14.77).

RUHS Hall of Fame: The Redondo Union High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will present the 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Redondo Union High School Student Union on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. beginning with a continental brunch and social hour. Surfing: The Jimmy Miller Surf Fiesta, presented by LA Car Guy and sponsored by Fresh Brothers, will be held Sunday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 42nd Street in Manhattan Beach. Baseball: South Bay Refinery Baseball and Softball will be hosting a West Torrance Field Restoration Golf Tournament Thursday, Oct. 27 at Los Verdes Golf Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. The four-person scramble tournament begins at 1 p.m. with awards dinner to follow. Entry fee of $150 includes: Green fees, cart, tee package putting contest, lunch and dinner.
