Baseball: South Bay Surf Baseball will be holding four 5-day camps featuring members of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Each session includes stations that teach baseball fundamentals, daily games, individual coaching on batting and pitching mechanics, weekly contests, prizes and player evaluations along with visits from Angel players such as Peter Bourjos, Mike Trout, Mark Trumbo and Bobby Wilson. They will speak, sign autographs and take pictures with the campers. Open to boys and girls ages 5-13, sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Aug. 6-10 and Aug. 13-17 at Alta Vista Park in Redondo Beach, and July 23-27 at Navy Field in Lomita. A one-day catcher’s camp for players 6-19 will be held Saturday, July 28 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. featuring Angels coaches Steve Soliz (Former MLB catcher and current Catching Coach), Tom Gregorio (Angels bullpen catcher) and current Angels catcher Bobby Wilson. Fees are $200 for each 5-day camp ($125 for the catcher’s camp). The South Bay Surf is also having Make-up Tryouts for its travel teams Monday and Wednesday, July 23 & 25 at Alta Vista Park.
