Police Beat

Spousal battery

A man attacked his girlfriend last Sunday evening near the intersection of Pier and Ardmore avenues, police said. Witnesses reported the couple were walking through a parking lot about 9:15 p.m. when the male suspect allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by her hair, picked her up and dragged her behind him. When police arrived and interviewed the couple, the woman had visible injuries to her nose, police said. The man was arrested on suspicion of spousal battery.

Assault

A man pushed a woman from behind last Tuesday evening at the 1600 block of Hermosa Avenue, police said. The man and woman walked past one another about 7 p.m. on a walkway inside an apartment complex, police said. The man turned around and pushed the woman, and the two exchanged words. The woman has asked to press charges, police said.

Stolen vehicle recovered

Police pulled over a blue Jetta for failing to stop at a stop sign near the intersection of Valley and 8th Street about 6 p.m. After receiving word from a dispatcher that a vehicle with the corresponding license number had been reported stolen, police discovered that the driver had a no bail parole hold warrant in Riverside County.

Attempted hotel burglary

Two men broke into storage closets at a hotel on the 900 block of Aviation Blvd. early last Wednesday, but fled before anything was taken, police said. Hotel employees at the Quality Inn discovered three storage closets, apparently opened with pry bars, at about 1:30 a.m. The closets contained only hotel supplies, but the suspects likely did not know what was inside, police said. The suspects, described as two white males between 18 and 25, remain at large.ER
