Suspects arraigned


Frank Cobarruvias and Rene Avina, the two men suspected in the beating death of Pats II Cocktails bouncer Terie Colecchi, pled not guilty at their arraignment on Monday. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 9.

Summer festival
The 34th annual Riviera Village Summer Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. There will be over 250 craft booths, food from local vendors and carnival rides. Safe biking course
The Beach Cities Cycling Club, Center for Health & Fitness and South Bay Bicycling Coalition are offering a free, 8-week A to Z Safe Cycling course for adults who would like to adopt a healthier lifestyle and learn the necessary skills to ride a bike safely. Participants must have access to a safe and dependable bike suitable for the road with multiple gears. Classes are held Sundays starting July 1 at 9 a.m. Class size is limited to 15 people. Aging and memory loss seminar
Silverado Senior Living will be hosting a seminar on June 21 at 10:30 a.m. with Dr. Jane Mahakian, a geriatric care specialist discussing what is considered “normal” aging and what is not. Student of the year awards
The 24th annual Student of the Year awards were awarded to 14 outstanding students on June 5. The winning students were rated on their academic success, work in the community and leadership potential.
