Parking rate changes

The Plaza Plaza Parking Structure will soon be removing their current parking program and moving to a pilot pay-by-space system in early April. The entry and exit gates will be removed and parking rates have been adjusted. The new rates range from $1.50 to $2 an hour depending on season, only charging $.50 for the first hour. Daily maximums will no longer be an option, except for certain flat-rate holidays. Merchant passes will remain the same. The program hopes to add additional options so patrons can add time to their meter via their cell phones.

With a total point spread of 44,865.3 points, 2,547 more points than they earned five weeks ago at the regional competition, the RUHS Academic Decathlon team placed 11th out of 65 high schools at state over the past weekend. Christopher Lew earned bronze medals in Economics and Essay, as well as a gold medal for being their top scoring decathlete. Aamil Shaik earned a bronze medal in physics—the team’s science topic for this year. Chris Lew and Luke Murphy each scored over 8,000 points, which places them in an elite circle of winners.

“Christopher Lew, Alex Niebergall, Patrick Borgerding, Alex Guzman, Aamil Shaik, Christian Brown, Luke Murphy, Amanda Caceres, and CJ Bissett – thank you for your hard work and perseverance,” said team coach and RUHS teacher Aimiee Gauvreau in an email to the school. “You are true champions!”

The St. Lawrence Martyr Aca Dec team also took home prizes and won first place in the Los Angeles Archdiocese Academic Junior High Decathlon. They will move to State finals in May.
