Wild night at Birney

On Thursday at 6 p.m. the Nature of Wildworks will bring live wild animals to the Birney School Cafeteria for an educational presentation for young learners while parents meet for the annual PTA meeting. The animals presented may include a serval, fox, grey wolf, Harris hawk, king snake, raccoon, opossum, rare macaw or other animals who are cared for by Molly Hogan, a wildlife naturalist and animal protector and keeper. September fundraiser
The Knights of Columbus will be hosting their monthly fund raising dinner Friday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus hall located at 214 Avenue I, between PCH andCatalina Avenue. Youth Sailing Championships

Paint ‘n pour
A new, unique North Redondodate-night spot recently opened its doors to the community. Paint ‘n pour, “an original art experience,” is a social painting space that features wine and beer sales, while helping to nurture the artistic side. Police promotions
Officer Jeff Mendence and Officer Paul Ribitzki were promoted to Sergeant in early September.
Mendence began at the RBPD in 1995 as Community Services and Municipal Services Officer until he became a police officer in 1999. He has worked patrol as a traffic investigator and as a special event coordinator. He was also a member of the CSI team. He is aSouthBaynative.
Ribitzki began with the LAPD in 1995 and worked a variety of assignments. He was hired at the RBPD in 2001 and has worked in patrol as a detective, with the special weapons and tactics team and is a member of the firearms training unit. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve for eight years.
