Booze cruise

Patrol officers received a call that four suspects had attempted to steal alcohol from Total Wine around 12:20 p.m. on July 24. According to police, the caller said that the same suspects stole alcohol from the store a week prior. Officers arrived on the scene and watched the suspects exit the parking lot in a black vehicle. Shortly after, officers conducted a traffic stop on the car in the parking lot of Norms restaurant on Hawthorne Blvd. Police said that one suspected exited the car and fled on foot while the other three remained in the vehicle and were arrested without incident. The fleeing suspect was eventually captured in the Verizon lot on Kingsdale Ave. They were identified by the employee and arrested for attempted commercial burglary.

Screwdriver attack

On July 26 around 1:21 a.m. a female adult was observed vandalizing a vehicle on the 2400 Block of Marine Ave. According to police, the victim and witnesses confronted the suspect and the suspect brandished a screwdriver and lunged at one of the witnesses. The suspect then attempted to stab the victim but was unsuccessful. Police reports indicate that the suspect bit the victim’s left hand while the victim attempted to disarm her. Officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect for assault with a deadly weapon.
