Redondo girls host elite volleyball teams
Redondo’s girls volleyball team had little time to dwell on its heartbreaking loss to rival Mira Costa last week as the Sea Hawks face two Bay League opponents before hosting the 32-team Redondo Power Classic Friday and Saturday. Redondo must defeat the teams from the hill and West next Tuesday if the Sea Hawks want to have any chance of sharing a league title which would be made possible with a victory over the host Mustangs on Thursday, Nov. 4. With 17 teams ranked in their respective divisions, the Power Classic will provide a strong field of contenders who will attempt to dethrone defending champion Redondo. The Sea Hawks have captured the tournament title four of the last eight years. Redondo is ranked sixth in the CIF Division 1-AA poll and is seeded second in the tournament behind Long Beach Poly, the division’s second-ranked team that is listed as No. 19 in the Prepvolleyball.com Century Club National Rankings.
