Redondo has little trouble earning first victory

Not only did the 39-0 shutout over the boys fromLong Beachput the Sea Hawks in the win column, the game provided a boost of confidence for Coach Gene Simon’s squad, particularly sophomore quarterback Harrison Faecher. The contest also gave junior running back Anthony Philyaw an opportunity to show what he could do. Seeking more playing time, Philyaw transferred from Serra and made the most of his first game with Redondo, gaining 84 yards, including a 15-yard touchdown run, on five carries. Brandon Kim opened the scoring for the Sea Hawks with a 4-yard run and, after Philyaw’s touchdown, Davion Goodall hauled in a 10-yard pass from Faecher to give Redondo a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Goodall scored again on a 27-yard pass play in the second quarter, and Deon Williams caught a 1-yard pass for a 32-0 halftime lead. Bren Galbasin capped off the scoring for the Sea Hawks with a 42-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Redondo (1-2) will have its hands full Friday when the Sea Hawks…
