5 Taco Tuesday Alternatives

Idea was taken from a reader comment on the Easy Reader Facebook Page. He sounded sick of tacos. What else has this town got?

1. The Counter Burger—Hermosa Beach. Amazing Deal. Tuesdays only, 4pm to close. A mere $14 gets you 4 gourmet sliders with matching sauces/dips each paired with a 5oz glass of beer. That’s 20 oz of beer! Come hungry, leave stuffed.

2. Gasser Lounge—Hermosa Beach. Famous for their ingenuity in every manner, from their drinks to the bar itself. Kinda looks like the inside of a coffin, but I don’t think they’ll take this as an insult. Normally food is not served. But this is $2 Tuesday! Look for Hillbilly Tacos from Pinkie’s BBQ to go with your drink. Sometimes a food truck like Fry Girl or Grilled Cheese will roll through. See what kind of trouble you can get into. Whether you’re looking for food trucks used for sale, food trucks that are new for sale or even custom food trucks for sale, there is a great truck out there for you to buy. Just don’t give up on your search because that perfect truck can be right around the corner.

3. Mediterraneo—Hermosa Beach. Tapas Tuesday means select tapas are 2 for 1 like Eggplant Fries, Chorizo Bilbao, and Croquettes. Decadent to the point of blasphemy. Makes fried mozzarella look trashy. Full-price favorites are: Castelvetrano Olives with Marcona almonds, or Roasted Dates which have been known to cause a “food-gasm.”

4. Fish Bar—Manhattan Beach. Happy Hour M-F 2-6pm boasts $1.50 Oysters. Love the $5 Oyster Shooter: Absolut Peppar vodka, citron, horseradish and tabasco. Food choices not limited to Lobster Mac & Cheese, Bay Shrimp Ceviche, Sweet & Spicy Calamari, and Garlic fries.

5. Fleming’s—El Segundo. 5-6-7 Happy Hour M-F, 5 cocktails, 5 wines, and 5 appetizers for $6 a piece til 7pm. Try the new 99 calorie cocktail, “Tickled Pink.” Prime Burger with cheese and bacon is entrée sized. This is no slider! Deal. Just bring your patience, good looks, and charm to get a seat at the bar.

My Favorite Thing Week #7: $5 Happy Hour Nachos at Saint Rocke. More like a tower of 5 tostadas, each one piled with chicken and cheese.

Bartender of the Week: Christina Long at Gasser Lounge, HB and 1321 Downtown Taproom Bistro in Torrance. She is a UCLA alumna who chooses to sling drinks. Self-proclaimed beer expert and foodie. While at Gasser, enjoy their signature “Hazzard County Tea” or “Doug’s Face Punch.” At 1321Downtown, she recently mixed up (but didn’t name) the “Proposition 8 Pear of Queens,” which involves pear vodka, ginger and rosemary. Ask her about her days as a food blogger. I’m sure there’s more where that came from. This pool shark’s favorite pastime is making boys sweat, and then watching them cry on the pool table. Now doesn’t that sound fun?
