Sidewalk Festival
The Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce and Visitors’ Bureau will present its Annual Summer Sidewalk Sale this weekend.
Retailers along Pier and Hermosa avenues will bring their wares out of doors Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and offer customers back-to-school discounts and refreshments. Some restaurants will be offering specials, and activities for children, including a scavenger hunt, will also be available.
City government camp
Children can learn about the history and workings of Hermosa next week with the “This is My City” camp.
Youth will meet with leaders in city business and government as they learn about civic engagement. The program concludes with participants working on a special project for Hermosa that will ultimately be presented to the City Council.
The camp, designed for children between 4th and 8th grade, will take place at the Community Center, and runs Monday Aug. 15 through Friday Aug. 19, from 9 a.m. till noon. The week-long camp costs $100 for residents, $110 for non-residents. To book a spot, contact the Community Resources Department at (310) 318-0280.
