
After leading Redondo into the playoffs, Redondo seniors Samantha Witteman and Annie Park were named to the All-CIF team in their respective sports, heading a group of local students acknowledged for their athletic achievements during the 2011-12 winter season.
Playing forward on the Sea Hawks girls soccer team, Witteman recorded 25 goals and nine assists and was named the Bay League’s Best Offensive Player and a member of the All-CIF Division 2 team. The aspiring physical therapist will attend UC Berkeley in the fall.
Bishop Montgomery defender Jessica Flores made the All-CIF Division 3 team. South Torrance teammates Jessica Nakae and Tina Yeghiayan joined Torrance midfielder Allison Arriola on the Division 4 team.
Joining Witteman on the All-Bay-League First Team were teammates Michelle Epp, Erinn Middo and Shannon Simon. Mira Costa’s Melina Cohen and Kimby Keever were also first-team selections.
Second Team honorees included Redondo’s Erin Guernsey, Shannon Lee and Brittany Oldham and Mira Costa players Mandy McKeegan and Nonie Frishette.
Girls Basketball
Park, a 5-foot-4 point guard was named to the All-CIF Division 2AA team after leading Redondo to the quarterfinals while averaging 11.5 points, three assists and 2/.1 steals per game through the season. She also shot 80 percent from the charity stripe and has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her athletic and academic career at Cal State Fullerton.

All-Bay League First Team members included Park and Mira Costa junior forward Ashley Reese. Second Team selections included Redondo senior forward Brittany Stafford and Mira Costa sophomore guard Camille Mills.
Other local girls earning All-CIF honors were Stephanie Wong (Peninsula) in Division 2A, Division 3AAA selections Faith Matsuda (Torrance), Nicole Nitake (West) and Shontalene Trudeau (West), Division 3AA member Kelsey Brockway (Palos Verdes) and Division 4AA honorees Devon Brookshire (Bishop Montgomery) and Simone Thompson (Serra). McKinsey Hadley (Serra) was named Division 4AA Coach of the Year.
Girls Water Polo
Mira Costa’s Natalie Lavincky was named co-MVP of the Bay League after the USC-bound senior led the Mustangs to a share of their second straight league title.
Redondo goalkeeper Sarah Logan was selected as the Bay League’s Most Outstanding Player after recording 304 saves during her junior year.
Joining the two honorees on the All-Bay League First Team were Mira Costa’s Sarah Crist and Emily Milstead along with Redondo’s Tiffany Morales.

Second Team selections included Mira Costa goalkeeper Bianca Magno, her teammate Jordan Raney and Redondo’s Bridgette Schneider.
Local girls water polo athletes named to the All-CIF Division 6 team were Hayden Green (El Segundo), Jenna Solberg (Chadwick)
Boys Basketball
All-Bay League First Team members included Mira Costa junior guard Cole Feaster and Redondo junior guard Derek Biale, while the Second Team featured Mira Costa sophomore forward Justin Strings and Redondo senior forward Brian Frew.
Local players honored by the CIF were Eric Childress (Leuzinger) in Div. 2A, Shane Smith (Torrance) and Gibran Sewani (South) in Division 3AA.
In Division 4AA, Lamond Murray (Bishop Montgomery) made the team while Serra’s Dekari Tucker was named Player of the Year and the Cavalier’s coach Dwan Hurt selected as the division’s Coach of the Year.
Boys Soccer
Mira Costa midfielder Jess Chamberlain and defender Michael Cassen joined Redondo midfielder Jeff Brandon as All-Bay League First Team selections.
Named to the Second Team were Mira Costa defender Paul Orozco and goalkeeper Teddy Sampson and Redondo defender Ethan Dintez.
Representing the Bay League as All-CIF Division 1 selections were Palos Verdes teammates Michael Meissner and Zach Soufl. Connor Archambault of South Torrance was named to the Division 4 squad.
