Sunday afternoon, the three took off in Chambers four-seat, Beechcraft Musketeer for the 400 mile flight to Zamperini Field in Torrance. They departed from San Felipe in Baja, and stopped to clear customs and refuel across the border in Calexico. About 25 miles short of their destination Chambers radioed to air traffic control at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport that he having fuel problems.
