An estimated 3,000 kids at 14 beach cities schools hopped aboard Walking School Buses Wednesday morning and skipped to school with their friends, parents and pets. The program is part of the Beach Cities Health District’s Blue Zone healthy community program.
Austin took the reigns as superintendent in August. He spends many mornings, like Thursday, visiting schools in his district. His previous positions in education had him working with mostly high school-age students, and Austin has been enjoying getting to know the little ones.
High school seniors and their families now have something more to celebrate on graduation day. Parking close to Redondo Union High School will now be more convenient one day out of the year, with exemptions made to permit parking restricted areas nearby the school on the day of commencement.
