Speakers at annual State of Education urge parents and children to find their purpose

The long thought and taught key to success was to get good grades, get a good job, and make a lot of money. Kathleen Terry thinks otherwise. Instead of reaching for success, she argued, we should first aim to define our purpose by identifying our gifts, passions, and values. Finding purpose was the theme of this year’s annual State of Education.

Beyond the Shore Paddlefest will bring a yoga and paddleboard “circus” to Seaside Lagoon

The complementary worlds of stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) and yoga will join forces on October 12 at the second annual Beyond the Shore Paddlefest. The highest-profile activity among many others — including a 4.4 mile paddleboard race, slackline yoga with “yoga-lebrity” Heather T. Leo over the lagoon, a 20-foot suspended aerial yoga demonstration, and local live reggae music — will be an attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the largest stand-up paddleboard yoga class.
