The year 2014 had a more than usual number of tragic deaths, culminating in the Christmas week passing of four members of Saint James Catholic Church, who were hit by a car in a crosswalk following a children’s Christmas recital.
Manhattan Beach struggled throughout 2014 on how to maintain its small town past in the face of forces driving it into the future.
“Sea level rise is a reality. It’s coming,” said former Councilmember Jeff Duclos. “We can speculate on how, what, where but we need to know, what does that mean to us?”
