From a cubicle to the Great Outdoors

Last October, Palos Verdes native James Kao found himself miles deep in the Chilean Patagonia mountains, taking quiet strides alongside a local wildlife guide named Diego. They were just a few hours into their five-day photography expedition tracking wild pumas when Roberto, an expert tracker, radioed in with great news: he spotted two sitting on some rocks by the coast.

Residents grilled a representative of Paragon Commercial Group, which wants to build a Gelson’s supermarket on Sepulveda Boulevard and 8th Street, at a meeting hosted by the Manhattan Beach Residents Association on Oct. 21.
