Margot Farris, Linda McLoughlin-Figel and Patty Gibson each hold their favorite novels at Pages Bookstore in Manhattan Beach.

At any given moment, the ladies of Pages are each reading about 10 different books. Whether they are prepping for an author event – they’ve hosted Lisa See, Hector Tobar, Mona Simpson and Louis Zamperini in recent months – reading advanced copies of soon-to-be-released novels, or stocking up on extra copies of To Kill a Mockingbird for high school students, Margot Farris, Linda McLoughlin-Figel and Patty Gibson are making sure they’re well-versed in the novels and children’s books that will appeal to their South Bay customers. After two years in business, the inventory-curating trio maintains it’ll beat any online book vendor or large chain in service and commitment to the community.

Pages is celebrating its second birthday on March 21 at 7 p.m. with live music, hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Stay tuned for a lunchtime book club coming to the store in April.
