This year’s honor as the Best Men’s hairstylist in the Beach Cities is huge for Amanda Gerber, who’s been a practicing professional for 13 years and working at Beach Bodies Salon and Spa in Hermosa Beach since 2009.
“I have such a great clientele, and a lot have been with me for ten years or more now,” Gerber said. “They’re such great relationships.”
Gerber, who grew up in San Pedro and now lives in Torrance, realized styling was for her in high school.
“I always liked coloring and styling my friends’ hair,” she said. “I thought it’d be fun to be in a salon environment, listening to music and talking with people, rather than in an office.”
Her success, she says, doesn’t come from chasing trends.
“I feel what’s trendy doesn’t suit everybody; both men and women need to choose styles that suit them best,” she said. “I love finding what works best for them.”
