Just breathe
Author Mallika Chopra will be at the Manhattan Beach Library for a special, after hours event promoting her new book “Just Breathe,” a fun, how-to book on meditation, mindfulness, movement, and specific exercises to help deal with day-to-day challenges and tips to lead to a healthier, happier, and more connected life. Topics will include dealing with stress, building self-confidence, getting to sleep, ridding oneself of anxiety, and focusing on school. For kids 8 to 12 years old. Free. The Great Pumpkin Hunt
The furry critters of South Coast Botanic Garden are notorious for snacking on the seasonal pumpkin patch. To thwart their efforts, the Garden’s resident birds have hidden the patch away. Can you locate the bird houses inhabited by parrots, owls, blue birds and hawks to collect their clues and find the missing patch? Through Nov. 30. Historical event
The Hermosa Beach Historical Society & Museum’s new exhibition titled, Sandpipers: Philanthropy Through the Decades. Guests can enjoy refreshments before the curtain opens. Women’s March
The Women’s March South Bay, a women-led community organization, and the National Women’s Political Caucus South Bay, a multi-partisan organization dedicated to increasing women’s political participation, will begin a “transformation process” with its Pledge to Vote Rally. Ukulele
