Photo by Steve GaffneyThe season opening SB Boardriders Club/Jack’s Showdown contest on Saturday Dec. 8 served up arguable the best waves in the best waves since the Boardrider contest series was founded in 2009. Former pro surfer Mike Purpus compared the mornin eves to Rincon. And even when the tide dropped and the wind shifted on shore, the surf still provided showcase opportunities for the nearly 200 contestants, as seen in these afternoon photos by Steve Gaffney.
