Opening Exhibit – John W. Clark
Join the Hermosa Beach Museum for the opening of an exhibition tracing the life of early Hermosa mayor John W. Clark. Through photographs, postcards, civic documents and athletic artifacts, visitors can see how global movement shaped a local life. The exhibition further includes Clark’s enduring legacy in athletics and the built environment, from Little League to lawn bowling and the buildings that still anchor the city, such as the newly restored Clark Building. 6 p.m. The exhibit runs through Monday, June 15. Candlelight Yin Yoga Experience, Not Shockboxx
Melt into stillness with this floor based, deeply meditative practice. Yin yoga encourages deep tissue work with poses held for longer amounts of time. This hands-on program includes storytime, science, art, and a tour of the Madrona Marsh Preserve. The first hour is spent inside the Nature Center, while the second hour is dedicated to exploring the Preserve. Some weeks may feature additional activities like potting or other interactive experiences. The program emphasizes respect for all living things and encourages environmental stewardship. LA Living Shoreline Dune Restoration
Join The Bay Foundation and LA Audubon at Dockweiler Beach Dunes. This restoration event will establish a healthy living shoreline that will provide habitat for native plants and shorebirds, including the threatened Snowy Plover and endangered El Segundo Blue Butterfly. The Home Depot Kids Workshop
Every first Saturday of the month a free, hands-on learning experience designed to inspire creativity and skill-building in children ages 5-12. Participants develop practical skills such as following step-by-step instructions, using hand tools like hammers and screwdrivers, and painting. Each workshop is led by knowledgeable store associates, known as Workshop Captains, who guide children through the process. A parent or guardian must accompany each child to assist with completing the project kit, which typically takes about 30 minutes to finish. Guided Nature Walk
Enjoy coastal views, see WWII sites and possible gray whale sightings. Moderate. Park on La Rotonda Dr. at Twin Harbors View Dr. 1st left. Meet at the sign-in table which will be set on the sidewalk of Twin Harbors View Drive at 9 a.m. look for a banner. The hike will take place though the Coastal sage scrub habitat along the Eastern Bluff of Trump National Golf Course. The hike will be of approximately 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours duration. Bring water since there is no drinking fountain on the trails. Wear sturdy closed toe shoes. Rain cancels the hike. Free, and all ages are welcome.
