Casino classics living in a digital age

With the ease and simplicity that comes from playing our favourite casino games online, it comes as no surprise to find that players are joining virtual tables daily, to grab themselves some of that casino feeling from the comfort of their own homes.

But for those of you that are new to the world of playing at your online casino site of choice, we wanted to introduce you to two classic casino games that have stood the test of time, and evolved over the years to become casino sensations both on and offline.

Read on to find out more.

Blackjack

Within a game of Blackjack, you aren’t playing against other players around the table to achieve that win, the aim is actually to beat the dealer, by holding a higher valued hand than theirs, without going over a total of 21.

But how do you reach 21? All numbered cards hold their own value, whereas the Jack, Queen and King hold a value of ten and Ace holds a value of both one and 10 – the player can decide which value the Ace is within their hand, in order to create the best outcome for themselves.

For the game to begin, you must first place down your wager for you to be dealt two cards. When you are dealt your cards, the dealer will also deal themselves two cards – one will be revealed, the other not showing its value until the end of gameplay.

Your options are as follows:

  1. If your two cards are equal to 21, you will stick and ask the dealer to reveal their second card.
  2. If the dealer has a hand lower than 21, you win.
  3.  If the dealer also has 21, you draw and neither win nor lose.
  4.  If, however, your two cards are below 21, you can also ask the dealer to deal you in another card – If this card takes your total over 21, you lose instantly.
  5.  If your hand is still a few numbers away from 21, you must decide if it is worth the risk of being dealt another card, or if you are better off sticking with your three cards, in order to try and beat the dealer. Once you have announced you are sticking, the dealer will reveal their second card. Again, if the dealer has a higher hand than yours, you’ll lose, if you have the same value you draw, but if you have a higher total than the dealer’s hand, you win.

Roulette

A game comprised of a wheel, a corresponding table layout, and a small white ball, quickly became a favourite amongst players since its birth, with its popularity only increasing as it evolved into the digital world.

With the aim of the game to predict the outcome of the ball’s chosen pocketed compartment within the Roulette wheel, the only thing you can do is hope that Lady Luck is on your side, and your gut feeling is correct. To place a wager for your prediction, you must simply place a chip with the corresponding bet type you wish to place. This could be a number of betting combinations, including; straight up, split, street, corner, line, odd, even, red, black, high, low and many more. Of course, you don’t have to place just one bet at a time, you can place a number of bets within one gaming session.

When all bets are placed, the wheel will spin and the ball entered into play. Once the wheel has come to a complete stop, the winning combination will be announced and any winning bets will be paid.

As we live through an ever-evolving digital age, it is clear that these transformed casino classics will be around for future players to enjoy!
