“AI Movement in Education” (AIM) was the title of a conference hosted by El Segundo High School and sponsored by Chevron on Tuesday, March 11. Local community leaders and educators attended the conference, which underscored the district’s commitment to integrating AI into its curriculum.

El Segundo High School students led sessions exploring AI’s transformative applications across various social sectors, including finance, healthcare, education, environmental stewardship, sports, and entertainment.
Following the student presentations, Chevron demonstrated “Spot 2.0,” the company’s robotic dog, working with Microsoft HoloLens to conduct safety inspection of the refinery’s miles of pipeline. The Microsoft HoloLens blends augmented and virtual reality images of the pipelines.

“We are so appreciative of Chevron’s ongoing support – not only for its generous financial contributions, but also for the thoughtful leadership it provides in developing key STEM initiatives for our students,” Marisa Janicek, ESUSD’s Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services, told the conference.
Chevron Corporate Affairs Manager Jeff Wilson returned the compliment. “El Segundo High’s new AI program is both a source of immense pride for El Segundo’s school system, and an important facilitator of future career paths in STEM,” Wilson said. ER
