Endless Session, Day 160: Distractions

Getting a late start for day 160, I drove down 190th street from Redondo Beach around noon expecting to see choppy midday seas, but instead felt blessed to lay my eyes on still, glassy water. The Hermosa Beach pier was my destination for the day, and getting down to the beach with not a soul out but a friendly seal and some epic little waves had me feeling the surf bug.

I made my way back up the beach, my calf screaming at me from yesterday’s surf injury and starting to turn deep shades of black and blue, ironically reminding me of the ocean.  Pain is easy in the ocean — the adrenaline and cold water, along with a million beautiful distractions takes the edge off. Back on land is a different story though. More ice, rest, and healing — tomorrow is a new day.
