The public opening for “Diana Thater: Between Science and Magic” takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. The exhibit/project is conceived as a brief history of cinema, recreating and repositioning a seminal moment in local history when downtown L.A.’s grand picture palaces were in full bloom.
