Effective Ways of Writing Faster

To become a better writer or a student who composes better as it is in your case, you need to know how to organize your work process correctly. Doing everything in a chaotic way won’t help you. Instead, it will make a writing process even longer than usual. First of all, get a clear picture of what you have to complete and what period of time you have for that. For example, point out the biggest essay assignments and the ones with the closest deadlines. Then, pick the most urgent assignments among all of those. Place your homework essays in a logical order how you would like to complete them.

Secondly, prepare your workplace. If you feel comfortable about studying in a university library, it’s okay. If not, have a separate place for doing your homework only at home. Don’t compose the essays while watching your favorite TV-show staying in bed all day long. This is not productivity, this is procrastination. Not everyone is good enough at doing many things simultaneously. So, have a separate workspace, where nothing will distract you from writing.

Then, create a plan of how much time you have specifically for education each week, or each day. Planning a day is something, which is going to pay off later. Suggest what period of time you might need for a particular assignment. Don’t skip this step only because you’re not a planning guru. Okay, don’t plan your whole day. Just create a plan for your studying process. That’s already enough for being more productive.

Now, when the preparation process is over, you can start writing your essay. How to do it? Let’s have a look.

Essay Writing Process

As with all other academic assignments, writing an essay is mainly about planning and researching.

  • Create a plan. Your essay should have a clear structure. Use a famous 5-paragraph method of writing to save a lot of time. It looks the following way: introduction, three body paragraphs, and conclusion.

  • Then, conduct a research. Doing a profound research on the question you’re writing about is needed even if you think you know everything required to start writing a paper. Never skip research if you want to finish the paper faster. A research will decrease the chances to get stuck in the middle of the writing without knowing what to write next;
  • Create the first draft. You don’t have to write perfect from the very first try. Even professionals can’t do it. Probably, new ideas will appear later. So, don’t try to make the first draft your best draft;
  • Take short breaks. Writing without a break is not giving your brain a chance to work better. No one can keep the same level of writing during a long period of time if working without a break. Short breaks are required to boost your mind to work even harder. For example, write 40-45 minutes without a break, but then take a 10-minute break. Change the activity, focus your attention on something else, give your eyes and brain time to relax. Go out, take a walk, have a snack, etc.
  • Edit and proofread. Even professional writers can’t compose a text without missing even the smallest mistake. It is impossible. Our brain and hands can’t work with the same speed if we have a lot of ideas to express in a writing form. Of course, you’re going to miss something. That’s why proofreading and editing are obligatory. But don’t do them while writing. Finish an essay, and only then proofread and edit it. It is a perfect formula that really works.
