June Surfboard Review

davenport2webDavenport Surfboards: “The Thing”

Something is LURKING in the water. Beware…it’s “The Thing.” The Thing, a small wave Noserider, designed specifically for long drawn-out exploiting noserides and classic trim. “This Creature of the Black” Sea features 50/50 rails with low to moderate nose and loads of tail rocker. A distinct ten inch wide tail and deep “V” allows “crack-the-whip” left-go-right turns “Body Snatching” the rider into tip side trim with the proper finesse of the rail. The wide tail gives “The Thing” a sinister urge to channel water over a larger surface area creating suction and hold for all frontal activity.  “The Thing” curses all beach and point breaks and is a monster in waves shoulder high and under. Like a razor sharp tusk, a Rick Rudder Fin is recommended. “The Thing,” your summer fling available at Aquatech Hermosa Beach:717 Valley Dr # D2Hermosa Beach,CA90254 or contact Davenport Surfboards

Davenport Surfboards: “The 4065”

Davenport’s all around work house epitomizing the utility of a hardworking El Camino, the 4065 is a user friendly surfboard. Taking design cues from Davenport’s favorite sticks of the 60s, stored in his “design library,” and the tricks of the trade he’s learned from his shaping mentor, the 4065 combines the best of the golden era and personal experience into a stew that’s hearty on the soul and tender on the lips. The “ash tray” scooped and swooped “UFO” inspired tail keeps the board locked and loaded in the pocket, making cross-stepping and extended noserides child’s play.  50/50 rails rev-up the drive for proper noseriding, banking re-directional turns, and off-the-track rollercoastin’. Recommended fins: Rick Noserider for a stiff noserider feel. Sparky for looser turning approach. Available at Mollusk Surf Shop Venice Beach and Aquatech Hermosa Beach: 717 Valley Dr # D2Hermosa Beach, CA90254 or contact Davenport Surfboards.
