The Los Angeles County Lifeguard rescue boat Baywatch Redondo recovered an unidentified male Thursday evening, shortly before 5 p.m., approximately half a mile north of the Hermosa Beach pier and two miles out from shore. Baywatch Redondo was assisted in the search by Baywatch Marina Del Rey, lifeguards on personal watercraft and a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter. Rescue workers had responded to a call by fishermen on a boat who reported seeing a body floating approximately 100 yards off of Hermosa. Lifeguards who observed the fishing boat from their headquarters on the Hermosa pier recognized that the boat was over a mile off shore. From that area, the searchers began following the current north.

The man has been identified as a caucasion male in his mid 50s and he has been identified, however details will not be released until his next of kin are contacted. Cause of death are currenlty unknown and under investigation.

According to the LA County Department or Coroner he was “found floating, and that’s all we know right now.”ER
