Spotlight on Medicine: 66th Annual PB National Horse Show
The Portuguese Bend National Equestrian Competition took place over three days, beginning Sunday, September 8, at Ernie Howlett Park. The show is recognized as the most popular event of its kind in the Western United States and is A-rated by the US Equestrian Federation. The event included a hometown carnival with games and ponies, face painting and shopping. The stick-horse class for children on Sunday is one of the fun, hallmarks. In the competition rings were the PCHA Horsemanship Medal Finals for riders 14 and under, and those 18-34, as well as the PCHA Victor Hugo-Vidal Adult Horsemanship Class for riders 35 and older. Riders also competed in the $10,000 Harman Jr. A/O Jumper Classic and the $15,000 Seahorse Jumper Classic. VIP packages included ringside tables and parking. The annual competition is organized by the Peninsula Committee Children’s Hospital and benefits the pulmonology, sleep medicine and ophthalmology departments at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
