On July 22, animal protection organization Pedro Pet Pals hosted a facility tour of their new Hyla Marrow Center at 395 W. 7th Street in San Pedro, followed by a dinner and awards reception at the San Pedro Elks Lodge. Marrow was an accomplished gymnast and dancer who had a long and successful career as a stunt woman and actress, appearing in over 80 films. She was also a passionate cat lover who created a trust that since her death in 2016 has benefited over 60 organizations who help homeless cats find medical care and forever homes. Visit their website at to learn also about how Hyla’s Heart to Home Cat Lounges reimagine the shelter experience by providing warm and friendly environments where cats are free to roam and interact with would-be parents. Local resident and community philanthropist Rebecca Cicoria was also remembered and honored at the event for her tireless support for saving animals.
