Photos made the surf look good at the South Bay Boardriders/El Porto Surf Shop contest two weeks ago in El Porto, but only because the level of surfing in the Boardrider contests keeps improving. Nowhere is this more evident than in the women’s divisions. In the Women’s Open division, competitors in the two, preliminary heats charged closeout shorepound, made more hazardous by a minus tide. The heats were won by Angelia Decesare and Shiloh Page. But Teagan Meza was dominant in the final with a 10.63 on her two best scoring waves. Page finished second and Decesare finished third.

The next SBBC Contest is sponsored by ET Surf and will be held March 16 at the Manhattan Beach Pier. For more information visit SouthBayBoardriders.org. ER
