Manhattan Beach Lt. Christian Eichenlaub said on Friday evening that the motorcyclist involved in a Thursday collision on Sepulveda Boulevard remained in critical but stable condition at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
The accident that closed the northbound lanes for several hours happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Tennyson Street, just north of Artesia Boulevard.
Police said the motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified, was headed northbound in the left hand lane on Sepulveda when he broadsided a Mercedes SUV turning left onto Tennyson from the southbound lanes. The motorcycle is registered in Hermosa Beach, Eichenlaub said.
Police arrived on the scene and found that bystanders had begun CPR on the motorcyclist, who underwent surgery at Harbor Thursday evening.
The driver of the small SUV was not injured, police said.
Hermosa Beach police assisted Manhattan Beach police in the investigation.
