10th Path of History marker: Old town Redondo

The Redondo Beach Historical Commission dedicated its 10th “Path of History” marker March 15 at the base of Czulegar Park. The installation tells of the old city hall, library and firehouse, built nearby in 1908.

The fire department and library later moved, and the building was vacated in 1957 because of earthquake concerns. The marker is dedicated to past and present Redondo Beach firefighters.

Pictured, from left to right, are Captain Brad Boster, RBFD; Doug Thompson, research librarian, City of Redondo Beach; Engineer Arnold Menjivar, RBFD; Mike Klein, City of Redondo Beach Public Works; Elizabeth Hause, City of Redondo Beach; Division Chief Jason May, RBFD; Nils Nehrenheim, Redondo Beach city councilman; Firefighter/paramedic Brandon Kardow, RBFD; Engineer Kyle O’Dell, RBFD; Pete Villasenor, part of the Leadership Redondo Class of 2002, which spawned the “Path of History” program; Firefighter/paramedic Tim Dennis, RBFD; and Captain Andy Yamamoto, RBFD.
